Cyber Essentials Accreditation
Cyber Essentials seems to be everywhere, but what does it truly mean for your organisations?
Let’s be truly honest for a moment. On a scale of 1-10, how much do you really understand about the world of cyber security?
Despite the fact that most organisations spend 6.5% of their overall IT budget on security and risk management, many still don’t understand what cyber security is and subsequently, they don’t know how to keep hackers out.
Over the last 10 years, we’ve seen a massive growth in cybercrime. According to data from the UK Government’s Cyber Breaches Report in 2021, 39% of UK businesses reported cyber breaches in the last 12 months – and those are just the cases that were reported! Unfortunately, these numbers are only rising as we become more and more reliant on technology within our organisations and hackers get more sophisticated.
UK businesses are experiencing an estimated 65,000 cyber-attack attempts daily. The message is clear: Cyber security must be a priority for every business owner.
- 85% of people posting puppy photos are trying to scam you.
- Human error accounts for 95% of all data breaches.
- Every 39 seconds there is a cyber attack.
- 43% of cyber attacks target small business.
- 75% of cyber attacks start with an email.
Cyber Essentials is a UK government information/data assurance scheme operated by the National Cyber Security Centre (part of GCHQ) that encourages organisations to adopt good practices surrounding data security. Cyber Essentials was designed by the government primarily for small to medium-sized businesses to make it easier for them to protect against common cyber threats.
It is now becoming common practice for businesses to only award contracts or business to those companies and suppliers who can prove they have taken Cyber security seriously and have adopted, and passed the Cyber Essentials accreditation. It is understood that Cyber Essentials accreditation will also soon become mandatory for many business sectors.
At Teknicare we understand that most business owners are too busy running their businesses to have time, or resources to implement and apply for Cyber Essentials accreditation. Teknicare now have a dedicated team of Cyber Security experts who can take you through this process, and beyond to ensure you and your business are as protected and Cyber aware as possible, and thus proving to your customers and suppliers that you take Cyber Security seriously
